Dr (Mrs) Chizoba Perpetua Ehiogu

 

Dr (Mrs.) Chizoba Perpetua Ehiogu is a seasoned academia, author and researcher in Insurance and Risk Management with a track record of tremendous and remarkable achievements in Insurance Education.  She holds a Bachelor of Science  (BSc) in Insurance and Actuarial Sciences with Second Class, Upper division, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Science (MSc) in Insurance and Risk Management, and a Ph.D. in Insurance and Risk Management. It is worthy of note that Dr. Ehiogu is the first female to obtain a Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Insurance in Nigeria. She has in her academic career taught and supervised undergraduate students of insurance, management and allied disciplines at the University.

Dr. Ehiogu is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (AIIN) and a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (FCILRMN) and a member of several other professional bodies. She had a short stint with Fidelity Bank Plc before joining the services of Imo State University Owerri, Nigeria, where she rose through dint of hard work to the position of the Head (first female) of the Department of Insurance. As a Head of Department she was also a member of the Senate of the University for years. It was during her position as Head of the Department, that the Insurance Department of the University was accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria for the first time after over two decades of existence and the department also earned full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Apart from her lecturing activities at her university, Dr. Ehiogu acted as an External Examiner/Moderator, Adjunct Lecturer, Chief Examiner, Peer-review and facilitator to Institutions and professional bodies in Nigeria. She co-authored the book: “Fundamentals of Agricultural Insurance” with Professor Sunday Nwite which was published in 2017 as reference material for both the students and practitioners of the Insurance Profession.  She has over (thirty) 30 published papers in reputable local and international journals, and has presented over ten (10) papers at local and international conferences, trainings & workshops, and international visibility.

She was appointed as an International / External Assessor at one of the Universities in Africa. Her contributions and commitment to Insurance education were recognized by the AIO- PILA award as among the ‘Top 50 Women in Insurance in Africa in 2022.’ held at the African Insurance Organization International Conference, Kenya in August 2022. She was voted as the Most Disciplined Lecturer by the National Association of Insurance and Actuarial Students NAIAS (2016).  Currently, the Rector of the College of Insurance and Financial she will use her experience from academia to run an evitable professional institution of learning for the industry.

She is happily married to Mr Ogechukwu Ehiogu (FCA) and the marriage is blessed with children.
